Analysis of wave propagation and manipulation in elastics materials and structures is of special interest and importance in engineering applications. The corresponding research results can be applied to design novel acoustic devices, ultrasonic non-destructive testing, noise and vibration reduction etc. This talk will report some recent studies on wave propagation and manipulation in elastic materials and structures. In particular, some efficient methods and novel results for wave propagation control by utilizing pre-deformed or buckled structures, electro-active polymers (EAP) and piezoelectric actuators will be reported. An outlook will be also given to highlight some future research demands in this exciting and promising research area.

张传增教授1993年获得德国达姆斯塔特工业大学特许任教博士学位(Habilitation)，1995年至2004年在德国齐陶/格里茨应用技术大学土木工程系任教授，2004年10月至今任德国锡根大学(University of Siegen)土木工程系结构力学教席教授、结构力学研究所所长，2008年至2016年10月15日任世界华人计算力学协会副主席，2014年2月至2015年8月人德国锡根大学土木工程系副系主任，2015年9月至今任德国锡根大学土木工程系系主任。

张教授主要从事的科研领域包括智能材料与结构力学、功能梯度材料与结构力学、压电和磁电弹材料力学分析、弹性动力学、断裂动力学、计算力学、计算机仿真。张传增教授及其科研小组近年来内承担多项欧盟、德国科研基金会(DFG)、德国科教部(BMBF)、德意志学术交流中心(DAAD)等官方资助的科研项目。与国内许多高校和科研单位，其中包括北京交通大学，在功能梯度材料、智能材料、波动力学、计算力学、建筑节能、再生混凝土应用，以及联合培养研究生等领域建立了密切合作关系。张传增教授及其科研小组近年来取得了大量的科研成果，已在学术期刊和专业会议论文集发表学术论文700余篇，完成科研报告50余篇，近五年来曾应邀做学术报告50余次，参与组织了30多个国际学术会议，并先后为80多家国际权威学术杂志做书面评审工作。

张教授现为德国最高级别C4教授，德国锡根大学土木工程系系主任，英国威塞克斯技术学院客座研究员，同济大学兼职教授，哈尔滨工业大学客座教授，哈尔滨工程大学客座教授，澳门大学资深客座教授(2010-2011)，南京航空航天大学客座教授，中国建筑材料科学研究总院客座教授。2014年11月当选为欧洲科学院院士(European Academy of Sciences)，2015年1月被授予斯洛伐克工业大学荣誉博士(Doctor Honoris Causa或简称Dr. h.c.)，2015年9月当选为欧洲科学与艺术院院士(European Academy of Sciences)，2016年6月当选为欧洲人文与自然科学院院士(Academia Europaea)。
