Recent research activates in solar enhanced combustion/gasification at the University of Adelaide

In this presentation, Dr Tian will talk about recent research activities in solar enhanced combustion and gasification that have been conducted in the Centre for Energy Technologies (CET) in the University of Adelaide. Particularly he will present the research results on a hybrid solar-enhanced receiver (HSRC) and a novel Solar Expanding-Vortex Particle Receiver-Reactor (SEVR) that are both patented by CET. The recent experimental results of an 8 kW HSRC will be presented.
Dr Zhao Tian is a senior lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Adelaide, Australia. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University, China, in 1997 and a Master’s Degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2002. He attained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at RMIT University, Australia in 2007. His research and teaching interests focus on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and CFD modelling of engineering applications, particularly coal/biomass combustion, renewable flows and solar-enhanced combustion/gasification.
