Department of Tunneling & Underground Works
The Department of Tunneling & Underground Works (DTUW) employs 10 staffs, including 7 professors and 3 Teaching assistances. Programs for both doctoral degrees and master's degrees in the Specialties of Bridge & Tunnel Engineering and Underground Works Engineering are offered to students. Besides, DTUW accepts postdoctoral researchers in Civil Engineering.
DTUW offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as: Tunneling Engineering, Theory & Practice of Underground Works, Metro Engineering etc. It is also responsible for guiding the graduation projects of students.
The Underground Works Lab of DTUW is equipped with the Tunnel Model Testing System and Underground Track Dynamic Testing System. Both of them are unique in China.
The department is qualified for conferring doctoral and master's degrees in Bridge & Tunnel Engineering, Disaster Prevention & Mitigation Engineering. It also accepts doctors from China and abroad as postdoctoral research fellows.
DTUW carries out many research projects sponsored by the State, Provinces and Ministries. Students are trained with theory and practice in tunnel and underground works. Graduate students are appreciated by design and construction group.
