Biography

Dr. Xi Chen (陈曦) has about seven years' academic and industrial experiences in geotechnical fields since he graduated from Tianjin University as a master student. In 2002, he continued to pursue his Ph.D degree in National University of Singapore (NUS) with the research topic " Preconditioners for iterative solutions of large-scale linear systems arising from Biot's consolidation equations". After graduated from NUS in 2005, he joined in GeoSoft Pte. Ltd., Tritech Group Limited, Singaproe. During the two years in GeoSoft Pte. Ltd., he worked firstly as a geotechnical engineer, then a senior geotechnical engineer, and finally a chief programmer with the duty of developing the commercial geotechnical software, GeoFEA. In 2007, he went to Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, USA, as a postdoctoral visiting scholar. About one year later, he continued his postdoctoral career in NUS from 2008 to 2009. Since the September of 2009, he was employed by Beijing Jiaotong University as an associate professor.
