讲座内容:讲座人:Sami El-Borgi 教授 讲座时间:2015年4月23日上午10:00 讲座地点:土建楼520会议室 题目:Crack and Contact Problems in Functionally Graded Materials and Functionally Graded Magneto-Electro-Elastic Materials 报告人简介:Dr. Sami El-Borgi is a Full Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar, currently on leave from Tunisia Polytechnic School, University of Carthage, Tunisia. He received his BS degree in Civil Engineering (1985) from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA, his MS degree in Structural Engineering and Applied Mechanics (1987) from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA and his Ph.D. degree in Structural Engineering and Applied Mechanics (1992) from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. His current research interests include fracture and contact mechanics of Functionally Graded Materials, nonlinear vibration, structural health monitoring and damage identification in addition to modeling and control of Micro-Electromechanical Systems and seismically excited linear and hysteretic structures. Prof. El-Borgi has collaborated with several international scientists as a Principal Investigator in more than seventeen international research projects funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF, 7th Cycle), European Commission, US National Science Foundation, U.S. State Department, in addition to the Tunisian, French and Turkish Governments with research funding in excess of $1624000. He has published more than 59 refereed journal papers and 43 international conference papers. In collaboration with Virginia Tech, he established the Computational Mechanics Master’s Programs and the Applied Mechanics Doctoral Program at Tunisia Polytechnic School, University of Carthage. He supervised alone and jointly 5 Ph.D. students, 24 Master of Science students and 30 Master of Engineering students. He has chaired the Applied Mechanics and Systems Research Laboratory (Tunisia Polytechnic School, University of Carthage, Tunisia) with more than 50 researchers on board. Dr. El-Borgi served as a General Chair of the International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (ICAMEM) in 2008 and 2010. He is a reviewer to more than 20 international journals, Associate editor for the Journal of Vibration and Control and member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Smart Structures and Systems. He was awarded in 2008 the Tunisian Presidential Order of Merit of Education.
